Abyssinian Oil is a natural seed oil with an ultra light feel on the skin. It has a unique molecular structure not found in any other naturally occurring substance- it contains a high percentage of unsaturated C22 fatty acids, making it highly resistant to oxidation.
We use it as anti-ageing oil cleanser and as a makeup remover. Our recipe is extremely simple and super effective.
You will need a small bottle of abyssinian oil and a few drops of rose essential oil..that’s it!
Why use a botanical oil as a makeup remover?
Oil-based cleansers work differently than foaming cleansers.
Oils, thanks to their hydrophobic state, literally grab dirt and product/makeup residue before water washes them away. This ensures your skin and pores are perfectly clear of makeup, dirt and pollution at the end of each day whilst preserving your skin’s natural oil/sebum barrier.
Foaming cleansers, on the other hand, contain detergents that dissolve your skin’s natural oil and pulls out essential lipids from skin cells.
Cleansing botanical oils are much better for dry skin than foaming cleansers because they protect the lipids and as we all know, dry skin needs to remain hydrated and moisturised. Little tip for a perfectly cleansed skin (especially if you are wearing heavy makeup), do a double cleanse: apply the botanical oil, rub on your skin in circular motion and rinse with warm water. Repeat and finish with a flower water toner before applying your evening skincare.
