What is Grapefruit Hydrosol?
It is the product of distillation of grapefruit. When producing grapefruit essential oil, 2 different substances are obtained:
The first one is concentrated essential oil, the other is a noble residue of mixed water steam and essential oil…named hydrosol or floral water.
What does grapefruit hydrosol/floral water look like:
It is a transparent liquid and you can sometimes observe small residue of the fruit.
Benefits and use of Grapefruit Hydrosol:
– Purifying and astringent, this aromatic water can help balance oily skin and reduce the appearance of pores. It is also also great as a scalp tonic as it helps prevent hair loss.
Lipolytic (which means to destroy fat) and draining- it helps with the elimination of excess water stored in the body and helps dislodge fat whilst toning up the skin.
Very aromatic, it smells heavenly in your homemade cosmetics.
Use:
Congested skin, oily or combination
Acne prone skin
Hair loss
Cellulitis & weight loss
Tips:
Can be used pure as a face skin toner or in your beauty recipes
Recipe:
Cellulite fighter:
-1 tbsp of Sweet Almond Oil
– 1tbsp of Watermelon Seed Oil
– 20 drops of lemon essential oil
-20 drops of grapefruit essential oil
-5 tbsp of grapefruit hydrosol
-30 drops of grapefruit seed extract to preserve the mixture
Shake and spray generously, use a brush with soft to medium bristles to dry brush your skin (brushing upwards in the direction of your heart). Best used after your shower before heading off to bed.
Air Purifying Mist:
In a spray bottle, mix:
-1 cup of Grapefruit hydrosol
-1/2 a cup of Verbena hydrosol
-1/2 a cup of Lemon hydrosol
-10 drops of grapefruit essential oil
Shake well and spray generously in your home. This blend will purify the air in your home and is perfect to use when someone is ill in the house.
